Network maintained --> end June, probably beyond!

Friday, after 8 days of unpaid shifts sometimes lasting 20 hours, the scheduled network shutdown was averted.

40 engineers are being paid to maintain the network while negotiations are finalised. Money for that 2 weeks is guaranteed, and is safely in the Belgian bank account.

Apparently there have been several interested parties, and bids have now been taken and accepted. The highest bidder should be announced by the curators in the coming days/week.

Whilst we are still unable to guarantee the connections of our customers (as we would like to), we are very optimistic about a positive outcome to the negotiations to make Ebone, once again, a complete and independent pan-European network. If this is successful, we will surely be able to settle back into the usual routine, guaranteeing connections, and delivering the high quality service that makes our customers happy.

Above all else, we would like to thank our customers for both their understanding, and their complete and genuine support for us during our darkest days. Without you, this fight would have been very difficult to win. Our assets are our customers, as we are theirs. Let's hope we can conclude this soon, now that we see light at the end of the tunnel.

Kind regards,

Speed1755

Regarding the Alcatel rumours

Rumours suggest that Alcatel is owed almost $100m by KPNQwest. Given the current situation, they want to apply pressure to KQ to try to recover whatever they can.

The media suggested that if they did not receive 15 million by Wednesday they would revoke the KQ's right to use their software. In the end, this did not happen.

In any case, we suspect that Ebone owes Alcatel far less money than parent KQ does. Moreover, with Ebone essentially remaining a separate legal entity, we hope that such an intervention by Alcatel would have excluded the Ebone network.

I've been in contact with the Venture Capitalists tonight. They are behind the only bid which would keep the Ebone network complete, with Operations remaining in Brussels.

They are very optimistic that there will be few obstacles in the way of concluding the deal to buy Ebone on Monday.

Fingers crossed!

network split is being prepared and will be done on Monday probably (if the deal goes through) which would mean we would return to AS1755

Quick and ditry tranlation of the RTL article.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KPNQwest’s network will remain most probably remain operational until July 19. The administrators have arranged for a emergency funding for personnel and maintenance through a foundation. There are still hard negotiations on a restart.

Belgium

Ebone, a Belgium daughter of KPNQwest, will probably go down Sunday night. There has not been arranged a further financing of this Belgium division after June 30 – midnight. Customers in Belgium will most likely experience great problems. In The Netherlands only a few customers will experience problems.

Foundation

KPN has paid the majority of funds in this foundation that will pay the remaining maintenance employees per week. For this week a lump sum is paid. Next week the employees will be paid normally. The funds will also be used for fixes and emergency repairs as well as in case of calamities.

Most KPNQwest customers already ordered backup links but haven’t activated these lines. They wait for KPNQwest and have set hopes on continuance of the network. If necessary they will be able to quickly switch to an alternate.

Restart

At this moment negotiations take place over a restart backed by Trimoteur. This group has bid € 60mio  for the total network. There will also be discussions with creditors and banks of KPNQwest over financing the restart and debts. Trimoteur has offered €70mio to the creditors and €70mio to the banks. If this works the whole network will be owned by Trimoteur, an initiative of ex-employees.

According to sources the takeover team of AT&T has left the Hoofdorp HQ of KPNQwest an indication that AT&T no longer is the serious takeover candidate for the whole network.

What a great amout of bullsh*t in the article!!! You seem to be a ridiculous, minor sub-division of the great KQ...  I wonder if these guys either knows what they say or they are really convinced to be the best in the world. As far as I know, they are only full of self-confidence....

Come on, Eboners, HOLD OUT a bit more!!! It's almost finished!!!!!
